Hey guys! We’ve got some great news and an awesome update for you guys.
As most of you know, we crashed our trusty van about a month ago, just before we left for a two and a half week US tour with our friends Roger Miret and the Disasters, which was a great experience by the way. Losing our van, which was “fixed” but is still undriveable after getting it back from the shop, was a pretty big deal for us. For many years it was our home away from home and we relied on it heavily. We put over 380,000 miles on it. It’s been with us through thick and thin and we miss it. When we lost the van, we looked to you, our friends and fans, to help us get through something pretty critical in our career. We were suddenly faced with not having the number one instrument to us doing our jobs. It was a bit scary. But you guys pulled through for us and were generous beyond words and we were able to get back on our feet and the road in no time.
This past tour was the first time we were able to take our new van out on the road. March 29th (the day before we left for the Disasters tour) we brought home our new beast of a van. With your help, where able to find a 2005 Freightliner Sprinter diesel work truck that we quickly converted into the best touring vehicle we’ve have ever had. We’ve posted some pictures of it to give you all an idea of how she looks. With the first tour under our belt, we are all extremely excited to be back on the road. The new van will allow us to go without a trailer and still gives us more seating than we had before all while cutting our gas usage by more than a half! A HUGE THANKS to all of you guys out there that supported us in our time of need. We were really blessed to see so many of our friends and fans make big sacrifices to help us out. You guys mean the world to us and we are very thankful for you. Flatfoot and the new van will be touring this summer and we hope to see you all out at some shows. Come visit the van. After all it belongs to all of you too!

We’re very sad to say that after 11 years of touring, over 1,000 live concerts and half a million road miles, our trusty van/home has finally seen its last day.

Just yesterday, our drummer Justin had a mishap with the van a concrete pole in a parking lot. The concrete pole won, taking the life of our tour vehicle, our home for the last 11 years. Justin is just fine and didn’t get hurt, but the loss of our van (and for 225 days a year – our home) is like losing a bandmate or a close family member. And it couldn’t happen at a more inopportune time for us, as we’re preparing for a road trip to Canada next week and a month long tour with Roger Miret and the Disasters along the south and west coast right afterwards. We’ve managed to borrow a van from our church that will get us through 6 days in Canada, but we need to get a new tour vehicle ASAP before heading out again. Unfortunately, like with most things in this day and age, our van is worth far less than what we still owe on it (it has 280,000 miles). We’re fairly certain that the insurance company will only cover a small portion of our outstanding balance with the bank. And on top of that, we’ve got no choice but to buy a new vehicle.
We’re not asking for charity, but we are asking for help. If Flatfoot 56 has impacted your life in any way, if our music has reached you and you feel that you can give back to us – even if only $1 – then please consider making a donation to the FLATFOOT 56 VAN FUND (via paypal – orders@flatfoot56.com).
We’re trying to raise enough money to buy a Dodge Sprinter extended length diesel fuel vehicle. The Sprinter gets about 24 miles to the gallon vs. the 5 mpg we were getting with our van in it’s final days. So, we’re trying to be conscious of our carbon footprint on the environment too.
*****We’ll be designing a special limited edition FLATFOOT 56 VAN FUND EMBROIDERED PATCH, and if you donate $20 or more you will be getting a patch from us in the mail in the coming weeks.*****
So, pray for us, our van situation, and if you feel comfortable contributing to our fund, please do so via PAYPAL. All donations for the FLATFOOT 56 VAN FUND can be made via ORDERS@FLATFOOT56.COM. Please make sure and include your address so we can send you a patch! You can also send check or money orders to:
